IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool …
(I had to shift past film snippets and such but otherwise stayed true to the meme… because I have nothing better to do at nearly 1am, obviously…)

Yep. Really got that. Don’t really know the song, though, I’ll be honest!
And what have we learnt? That there’s no meme so time-wasting that it can’t also be infectious?
“Say What You Want” for breaking up is perfect, kind of (in a “white flag” kind of way) and “Sunny Afternoon” as nervous breakdown music is horrifying and apt.

Agree with all of that. Sunny Afternoon sent a shiver down my spine with its madness
Except that I don’t know what meme is and can’t be bothered to look it up even though visiting dictionary.com would have taken less time than typing this out.

Dude…
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/meme
It’s basically used as shorthand for “annoying online cultural objects that are only elevated beyond simply being obnoxious and vacuous chain-mails by people’s willingness to engage with them more deeply”.

Oooh, Mr Kirk…
I have to tell you, that’s the most eclectic set of bands I’ve seen outside my own iTunes playlist. Lovely!
Especially like the telling mix of hip-hop, guitar bands, and old classics… Very nice indeed.
For my death scene, though, it would have to be a musical loop of one of the instrumental parts of Cicciolina… The vocals in it would be too distracting from the mood.

Ta. I’ve always been a bit of a vinyl nut, but since I joined the digital revolution I am approaching eclectic overload.
Interesting band Pop Will Eat Itself. They could have been massive, but they had just the wrong balance between dance pioneers and Grebo chancers. They could maybe have passed as mysterious dance boffins a la Daft Punk, if only they hadn’t made the mistake of letting people see them gangling around on TOTP.
One of them did go on to dip his toes into Big Beat waters with Bentley Rhythm Ace

That about sums PWEI up in a nutshell. They were always a lot smarter then they let people see.
Another of them (Graham Crabbe) went the full-on jangly electronica route, pre-empting the Lemon Jelly sound by a good few years, as Golden Claw Music.
Of course, then there’s Clint Mansell, the other front man. He’s become a shit-hot soundtrack composer, I think on Trent Reznor’s label. For some idea of his skillz, check him out on imdb.
