- Oh god, Shadow Of The Colossus is too much sad for one man. #
- Watching Dr Who 0404. A couple of nice moments with Martha & Donna already, but I wonder if I’ll get past the entirely retarded first death. #
- Took a quick break from Dr Who to see if 2nd hand Okami worked. Hour and a half later, just got back to the good doctor. #
- Doctor Who back on… Pet peeve number two showing: soldiers who don’t ACT like soldiers. Also, UNIT units stunned by alien labs. Oh dear. #

My Body Wrongs
Running late again today, and this is also probably going to be a short one, because my wrist is killing me.
I’ve a couple of posts I want to write over the next few days, very specifically one about gaming that has been stewing in my brain-pan, especially since I completed Shadow Of The Colossus today, but that will have to wait, because the blinding pain I’m suffering seems mostly brought on by keyboard antics…
So while I’m on the subject, I thought I’d take you on a whirlwind journey of my body, and the various things that are, or have, been wrong with it.

The Process Of Barging Your Way Into The Homes Of Others, Then Judging Them
Mr Hirst is looking round hellpits at the moment, trying to work out which one he and his partner are to sink a portion of the rest of their working lives incomes into:
He has, as always, cut to the main cause of discomfort behind going through this process. While we’re incapable of staying totally objective while being shown around the places that the estate agent has insultingly decided we are best suited to, most people would really rather not feel like they’re judging the current tenants of these places – certainly, if you’re English, as Rol and I are, you would never dream of saying anything at all negative while in earshot of those tenants.
It’s also kind of difficult, when viewing other people’s homes, to gauge what is your own personal aesthetic response, and what is a reasonable expectation of the current housing market – I mean, what you can reasonably expect to get for the amount of money you’re going to be able to afford, and at the same time, whether or not, as a person who rarely gets to go into large numbers of stranger’s homes, whether you have an appropriate metric for what is squalid, and what is simply a bit yuck.

I’ve not been all that happy with how my last few Elephants have turned out, so imagine my surprise when I wrote something both short enough to not kill brain-cells, and fun enough to still be fun, for this week’s outing.
It is based on this image by David Baillie:

And is a heartwarming piece of blank verse called “What We Found When We Cleared The House”
It all sounds a little like that.
You should give it a go… you’ll like it, or your money back.

- David Bailie has all but totally convinced me to go to Bristol Expo this year. Rock on! #

Three Weeks Of Daily Posting
Last Thursday I started a two and a half week break from work. People kept asking me if I was going anywhere nice, and tried not to look too disappointed when I told them that I was staying home for the whole time. When I told them that the break was to do some writing, they had to try even harder not to look a little sorry for me.

- On Common – Doesn’t matter HOW pretty they are, Labradoodle is still a bloody stupid name for a breed. #
- Gaggle of teen girls playing some incomprehensible game that started with frisbees & now involves cartwheels & squeals. #
- Easy to forget after college & spending time in the city centre that older kids CAN be sweet. #
- Although besides the chavs, noticed yesterday that even the Emo kids have started smiling. Still reeling at shock of Goth smiles circa 01. #
- Dog One just tried to get a part in some student film down on the Common. #
- It’s a gorgeous day for a walk, actually. Almost feels like our 5 minutes of summer. Been sketching. How do artists shake "perv" feeling? #

- En route to see Mr Chev for Staaarbucks. We are both late, which is odd… Normally pretty punctual for coffee… #
- Just saw an odd scene outside courthouse – a family in some sort of dispute or anguish, with a girl a few feet away photographing. #
- I mean, it was probably just a local paper photog covering some story, but the tableau, her trying to look inconspicious next to a post… #
- … Looked just peculiar. #
- Also, just saw a girl & her guy, & she was TOTALLY co-ordinated, in the brightest canary yellow you ever saw. Shoes, little dress, bag. #
- it looked more chic and cuter then I’d have expected. #

- English weather is ace. After a 5 minute walk I am both tediously cold AND irritatingly wet. That’s 2 for the price of 1, bitches! #
- I am, to quote myself in a mail I just sent, a complete pop-culture unitard. I’ve managed to utterly fabricate years of memories n’all. #
- For years, I’ve convinced myself that the Battle Of The Planets that I watched as a kid was a different UK version then the US Frank one. #
- On closer inspection, this is oafish. I am apparently the only person in the world who believed this… #

- Yesterday, spent chunk of time convinced that whole "bees dissappearing" thing was elaborate viral marketing by Dr Who camp. #
- I am clearly confused… #
- Posit theory for expansion later: The term "Web 2.0" is meaningless from a technological POV, but can be used to describe a time period. #
- Which is to say, it can accurately be used to describe a time, rather than a movement or state. The 5-year stretch when "everyone" noticed. #
- …Rather then the tech that they used when they eventually did. The net has always been good for creating networks & sharing info/opinions. #
- I’m guessing the pair I just saw were on their way to some Uni formal. Totally overdressed for the street but utterly smart & sumptuous. #
- You heard me: Sumptuous! #
- Oh wow, I almost forgot, I’m on freaking holiday! #
- Awkward geek in black pleather trench – check! Extreme frisbee – check! Sick looking joggers – check! Hot girls on bikes – check! #
- Female rugby – check! unauthorised bonfires – check! It’s a motherlovin’ early Summer evening on Southampton Common, oh yes! #
- I may have mentioned this before, but why on earth did Dog only start soliciting attention from hot girls once I was in a relationship? #
- How weird. Pulled out phone, & "Can you talk now?" was typed into the text box. I’m pretty sure I didn’t write it! #
- @kmellon You might have something there. Except it’s Dog that’s going after the girls. As a single guy, the whole POINT of a dog is girls! #
- Funny, they aren’t BUILT like female rugby players… #
- Do I seem preoccupied by the rugby players? #
- @kmellon With your kickass art skillz, you don’t need charisma & looks! Artists are like the front man or lead guitarist of the comic world. #
- @kmellon Just make sure girls can see your drawrings, they’ll fall at your feet asking for pitchers… #
- @kmellon … While your writer friends write heartfelt tone poems for no-one. Sigh. #
- Just saw Dominos guy getting onto bus with one of those insulated pizza carriers. Hope that isn’t how they get to deliveries now… #
- @kmellon Well, I don’t want to contradict myself here, but Cassaday does also have the aforementioned looks & charisma. Plus, Texan drawl? #
