“Off The Rails” at Elephant Words

“Tracks” taken by Budgie.

I am watching “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, drinking Smirnoff Ice, and typing this. I’d say that makes me what I’m doing multi-tasking.

Other than that, though, I’ve been shit at keeping you up to date with these. Luckily, I don’t think many people who read this don’t already read Elephant Words, but hey!

Yesterday, I posted the story “Off The Rails” at the site. It wasn’t the first attempt I made at writing something this week… there’s something about trains and stations that are a little bit too inspiring to me.

As it went, the first piece I started to write was a little bit too horrible to post. So this piece was knocked out a bit quicker than I’d have liked. The premise of the first made it into this one, though.

“You know, if you wanted to, I reckon you could bring half the country to a standstill with just seven or eight small devices.” Tariq said, as they sauntered up the platform, alongside their train and on their way to Waterloo proper. If anybody else in the rush to get off the platform heard him, they didn’t react. They were in far too much of a hurry to get on with their day – to make their connections, or catch a cab.

My original was all about someone carrying out such an attack, and was based on some pretty odd thoughts that crossed my mind, the first few times I went through Waterloo. This version takes a few hearty steps back from that other story, but the core of it is still there.

Hopefully, this story is a bit more fun than that one. A fun story of paranoia and potential terrorism. Huzzah! Please do skip on over there, and leave a comment if you like it. Or even if you hate it, of course..!
