I thought the villain was unconvincing, but this has been an issue for at least the last five films and wasn't such a huge deal. There was next to no character development. The chemistry in the previous film between Bond and Vesper Lynd was pretty believable, but it didn't work this time, and not to the credit of the director and writer(s), because Olga Kurlyenko can certainly act. Why they chose a dusky Latin look - tan and all - for a woman who instantly sells on her Ukranian roots was just strange. It felt a bit like watching an extended music video, but without the music.
