I now wish Tennant hadn’t announced/BBC hadn’t revealed. I’m officially not as excited as I was 6 months ago… in reply to steevbishop # - … I like Moffat’s writing a lot, but this feels like casting in the wrong direction to me. Would have preferred it sprung as a surprise. #
- @steevbishop I agree that revealing new Doctor became impossible to avoid – I just wish Tennant had kept announcing departure so early… in reply to steevbishop #
- … I’m still convinced that it wasn’t a coincidence that it was timed so close to the BBC getting in trouble with Ross/Brand. @steevbishop #
- Demons – sigh, had some nice touches, but there is NO excuse for something like this to be so self-congratulatory & so dumb, post-Buffy. #
- @marcellerby Well, it wasn’t Bonekickers bad, but it wasn’t The Wire, lets put it that way… in reply to marcellerby #
- @douglasnoble Hah, you’re on form today, Mr Noble. Truly on giant monkey form… in reply to douglasnoble #
- @erikamoen We are taught how to deliver pissy rants in school over here. What’s his basis for Watchmen hatred? I’d be intrigued to hear… in reply to erikamoen #
- @steevbishop So I really AM the most paranoid one of all…
But yeah, it seemed like, with a year to go, Tennant gave the news up early. in reply to steevbishop # - @BeaucoupKevin Good man…! Are these your first? God, I hope so! I wish I could watch The Wire for the first time all over again… in reply to BeaucoupKevin #
- @steevbishop Hm. That… uh… okay, we’re terrestrial anyway, but I think if we weren’t, I’d resent the fuck out of that… in reply to steevbishop #
- @steevbishop Course. My point is, we’re a TV License household anyway, but if I was in one of my TV-free eras (they happen) I’d be pissed! in reply to steevbishop #
- Hm, just took advantage of the Dreamhost deal – tho it was a tenner more than advertised – but don’t know what to do with it. #
- Powercut! Thanks to @sulman, am already emotionally prepared for possibility of this. #
- @steevbishop @thoughtmecca Fellows, we had a powercut last night so your last tweets went unreplied. But Yes 202 & Yes TV License bad name! in reply to thoughtmecca #
- @Sulman You warned that the lights would start going out… BTW, G is popping down for a late lunch, should be here around 2. You about? in reply to Sulman #
- @Sulman So do we! ALWAYS THE BLOODY SAME! Greeks! (Is there a “throwing arms up in the air” emoticon?) in reply to Sulman #

Another Way To Breathe: On The Disir
HEAVY SPOILERS FOR JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY 638
I was asked on my Formspring “Was that always the real origin of your Disir, or something that evolved for EXILED?”. To which I responded….
When I created the Disir back in SIEGE: LOKI and NEW MUTANTS 11, I knew the origin I gave wasn’t the…
Kieron Gillen is killing it on Journey Into Mystery. It’s process like this that’s the reason why. Inspiring.

Peach for godsgirls

Illustration by Victo Ngai for the fiction “Sweet Dreams” by Peter Stamm
“She went to the bathroom, filled the tub, and got undressed. The mirror misted over with condensation, and the smell of pine needles filled the air. She turned off the water, and the apartment suddenly seemed very quiet. Then she heard footsteps, and Simon’s voice through the half-open door. He said, I’ll just go downstairs for the bottle of wine. I thought you’d gone already, said Lara, and she poked her head through the crack, and he kissed her on the lips and tried to barge the door open, but she held it shut. They kissed again. See you soon, said Lara. It was odd, she still felt a little ashamed in front of him.”

This scene is one of my earliest comic memories. It was the first point at which I saw a comic character making a mistake, which meant it was probably the first time I really processed them properly as characters and human.
Spider-man has webbed up a doorway to stop a criminal escaping, but then realises that the criminal is escaping out of the window instead, and in his hurry to catch them he forgets his own webbing.
It seems gloriously ridiculous out of context, but if memory serves it was part of a pretty intense and dramatic story featuring Alex Summers (Havok).
(This was me, by the way.)
