- @MissNixs Benny Hill girl. DEFINITELY. in reply to MissNixs #
- Oh, the Elephant Words Moo.com cards came through. They are… well, Moo SERVICE is lovely. Couple of the designs didn’t print so well. #
- But overall, can probably recommend Moo.com! It’s not THEIR fault I know nothing about output for print! #
- @acheverton Are you writing or are you REALLY waiting for a milk float? It’s odd enough in your neck of the woods that it’s hard to say… in reply to acheverton #
- @georgelondon Well, they make it pretty easy, but the problem is more technical than anything. It’s on this images: http://twurl.nl/31xg88, in reply to georgelondon #
- @georgelondon …& this one: http://twurl.nl/icbnwz, & also on the logo one, but to be fair on the logo one it warned of low res poss probs. in reply to georgelondon #
- @georgelondon The problem is on a monitor, it’s not obvious that there are 2 elements flattened together, but in print, it is… in reply to georgelondon #
- @georgelondon Worse, in each, the element that’s supposed to be foreground is the one that is duller. in reply to georgelondon #
- @kmellon Ah, balls. I misdirected my tweet yesterday. Bought/read Gearhead TPB – from FP of all places – & seriously, you guys nailed it… in reply to kmellon #
- @kmellon Can’t think of any complaints, & SO much to love about it. And that NEVER happens with me & comics these days…! in reply to kmellon #
- Righto, bedtime. #
- @kmellon Your welcome, but on the FP side, 1st I saw of it was in a sale, so there’s probably still work to do on that side of the process. in reply to kmellon #
- @kmellon …Our local store is normally pretty good, & I’m not in there a lot, tho, so there could be a number of explanations… in reply to kmellon #
- @JSCarroll That’s a very good question. Suspect it’s something to do with motion, & the eye’s ability to parse 3d that we don’t think about. in reply to JSCarroll #
- @Sulman 1st call to local college’s absence line claiming they won’t be in as they “have that flu that’s going around” reported yesterday!;) in reply to Sulman #
- @Wossy Exhaustion, surely? The season only REALLY kicked into gear a couple of hours ago… in reply to Wossy #
- @rhodri That every mail I send with the words “Terrorism”, “Bio-Terror” or “Lolita” in will suddenly be within easy reach of Jacqui Smith? in reply to rhodri #
- Hey, good news, you guys! Apparently, we DIDN’T start the fire! #
- @Sulman Actors have a magic circle too? We need a Penn & Teller of the acting world, to blow the lid of that baby…! in reply to Sulman #
- @Sulman Though, joking aside, I can see his point. Workplaces would get pretty weird, pretty quick, if we all knew we were being recorded. in reply to Sulman #
- @steevbishop It worked wonders, huh? You still remember it even now, which is pretty bloody impressive for a jingle! in reply to steevbishop #
- @Bournemouthecho Yes! I have decided that song is essentially a big “Hey, it wasn’t me, it was broke when I got here!” to the world’s ills! in reply to Bournemouthecho #
- @RedMummy Good good… though I got wetted on on the way in. And I am behind on a couple of personal projects, with deadlines up the wazoo! in reply to RedMummy #
- @dailyecho … One news article at a time?
I like that idea, actually… People LOVE firemen, right? in reply to dailyecho # - Out on a limb & all joking aside: An oft joked about thing, but when checking for testicular cancer, what REALLY are you looking for? #
- … We’re warned to check regularly, but the people warning us always flinch from details, saying to check for anything unusual, or lumps… #
- … & I try, but frankly, it’s ALL unusual down there. Mostly, I think it’s best not to think too hard about how it all works. #
- @Sulman It always takes me a few seconds of watching real space footage to acclimatise to the fact that those aren’t FX… Then I spin out. in reply to Sulman #
- @Sulman “HOLY SHIT those guys are really floating around for REAL!” in reply to Sulman #
- @Sulman True enough. By the way, that 1000fps film is truly awesome to watch! I am watching JELLY! in reply to Sulman #
- Awesome floaty space footage – http://bit.ly/Zyko7 – & hi-speed camera stuff – http://bit.ly/QR6HS – courtesy of @sulman’s roving eye… #
- @steevbishop HAH! No, I’m trying, but I can’t top that… in reply to steevbishop #
- @MissNixs That’s terrible. So, generally, changes? I need to get to know mine a little better, I guess. I can’t be certain that I’d notice. in reply to MissNixs #
- @steevbishop HAH! The “World’s smallest violin” could almost be considered a technique! in reply to steevbishop #
- Though it looks schmaltzy as fuck, Funny People looks like it might be a landmark movie for Apatow, Rogan & Sandler. http://bit.ly/vMBn7... #
- … Go on the understanding that I’ve been getting baseline enjoyment from Apatow movies thus far, but noticing a lack of restraint. #
- This is going to sound daft, but those of you who give talks/lectures: How do you source things like video or… say, panels from comics? #
- … I get that different publishers have different rules on fair-use, & much leeway as lecture is going to be in FE library… #
- … But I mean the ACTUAL practical sourcing & presentation of the things? Scan them from your own copies for paper stuff? #
- If I’m sticking to movie trailers to avoid issue of student ages, YouTube? Or is there an easy way to grab them from bought DVDs? #
- @Glinner Tut, it’s only natural… Diarrhea is just over-enthusiastic & disorganised poo! People are FAR too squeamish… in reply to Glinner #
- @davidbaillie Hm. Your Tweets the last few days have been like the load page quotes in Total War games. Illumination, while you wait. Nice! in reply to davidbaillie #
- Thanks to @sulman, I remembered why that song was stuck in my head earlier: Saw a link to this before I left the house: http://bit.ly/jsWui #
- http://bit.ly/jsWui – Pretty slickly put together & neatly observed. I find College Humor is very hit/miss, but loved this! #

- @serafinowicz That is possibly the prettiest, most sublimely amusing thing I’ve ever seen you tweet. Nice! in reply to serafinowicz #

- @belle_lulu STOPPIT! in reply to belle_lulu #
- @steevbishop I tried following that link but all those people are talking in some crazy made up language. It made me giggle. in reply to steevbishop #
- @belle_lulu All this talk of lady nudity! Some of us are at work! By which I mean me! in reply to belle_lulu #
- @giagia I loved the way they incorporated muscles & anatomy into solid armour outfits, in the 1st wave of Ep1 reissues. Except I didn’t! in reply to giagia #
- @giagia Still, never did understand the little noduley thing in the tip of the lightsaber. Looked like artifact of production process. in reply to giagia #
- @steevbishop I just mentioned it in the office. Was told that apparently a hole just opened up in the middle of Manchester? END TIME BABY! in reply to steevbishop #
- @steevbishop Course, you’re right, it could be quite a tragic event, tho hard to tell the scale as yet. in reply to steevbishop #
- @belle_lulu I KNOW! But there’s ALWAYS an excuse with you, isn’t there? That ends with nudity! in reply to belle_lulu #
- @belle_lulu “I needed something to stop the bleeding, & ALL MY CLOTHES were all I could find!” in reply to belle_lulu #
- @belle_lulu “We needed some way of quickly getting the sandwiches down to the people, so I made a parachute out of ALL MY CLOTHES.” in reply to belle_lulu #

- Fellow English: When Americans say “Mom”, they mean Mumsy. Also, “pants” = pantaloons. “Boob” is a big buffoon. #

- OK, I’m not one for fartiness about English usage, but: Has anyone ever heard of a Death Toll going DOWN? No? #

Another Way To Breathe: On The Disir
HEAVY SPOILERS FOR JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY 638
I was asked on my Formspring “Was that always the real origin of your Disir, or something that evolved for EXILED?”. To which I responded….
When I created the Disir back in SIEGE: LOKI and NEW MUTANTS 11, I knew the origin I gave wasn’t the…
Kieron Gillen is killing it on Journey Into Mystery. It’s process like this that’s the reason why. Inspiring.

Peach for godsgirls

Illustration by Victo Ngai for the fiction “Sweet Dreams” by Peter Stamm
“She went to the bathroom, filled the tub, and got undressed. The mirror misted over with condensation, and the smell of pine needles filled the air. She turned off the water, and the apartment suddenly seemed very quiet. Then she heard footsteps, and Simon’s voice through the half-open door. He said, I’ll just go downstairs for the bottle of wine. I thought you’d gone already, said Lara, and she poked her head through the crack, and he kissed her on the lips and tried to barge the door open, but she held it shut. They kissed again. See you soon, said Lara. It was odd, she still felt a little ashamed in front of him.”

This scene is one of my earliest comic memories. It was the first point at which I saw a comic character making a mistake, which meant it was probably the first time I really processed them properly as characters and human.
Spider-man has webbed up a doorway to stop a criminal escaping, but then realises that the criminal is escaping out of the window instead, and in his hurry to catch them he forgets his own webbing.
It seems gloriously ridiculous out of context, but if memory serves it was part of a pretty intense and dramatic story featuring Alex Summers (Havok).
(This was me, by the way.)
