We Were On A Break!
Very quick “state of the nation” post…
I’ve taken a six week stretch off from Elephant Words contributing, to try and get a breather and get on top of the other stuff that I need to get on top of, such as this site, the novel, my birthday and actually running Elephant Words – a role that I’ve been performing only very badly for the last few months.
Dan Lester, of “The Incredible Lesters”, will be returning to Elephant Words to cover my absence. You may know him from such websites as “Forever Golden – The Official Bea Arthur Fansite”, “Cyclops Fun Hour” – still the only blog discussing accessibility and disability awareness in comics – and “Monkeysmightpuke.com“. He is also the author of “The Monkey E’er Spanked – Being An Exhaustive History Of Onanism In Web Poetry” – still looking for a publisher, folks! – and “The Dan Lester Mysteries“.
If you didn’t read him before, you should definitely read him now. His first new post was up today, and it’s here: “The Museum Of July 22nd, 1987“.
In the next few days, you can expect a post about our cultural excursion to the big city Saturday just gone, a very brief rundown of Bristol Expo 2009, with a slightly more involved review of the books I bought there, a bit of a chat about some of the books I’ve read in the last few months but for some reason have failed to post about, and maybe even some TV stuff.
The TV stuff I have really let fall by the way side, but seriously, it’s been a very good few months for finales, but not such a good period for great shows, and it sits badly with me that I haven’t posted about it.
I mean, if I won’t stand up for “Life”, who will? Answer me that? Who?
I may also post massively cut-down versions of the two talks I recently did at City College Southampton – these were a bit of a nerve-wracking leap into the unknown for me, but I’m quite happy with how they turned out.
I’ve started fidgetting around with my Amazon Associates account again, which means I may be posting a few more links to things I’m reviewing or mentioning, especially if there are particular bargains to be had. Tell me in the comments if this starts to get a little invasive, yes?
My birthday is coming up, and I’ve spent a bit of time working up up-to-date Wishlists at Amazon – very glad that the whole #amazonfail thing blew over, because I’d have hated to feel knee-jerk guilt and the wrath of internet acquaintances by going ahead and ignoring it for the sake of a bit of birthday profiteering. The link to those wishlists is in the left-hand column of the site, under “Amazon”, as well as here.
Obviously, you shouldn’t feel any pressure to get me something, though the items do start from very cheap! Just sayin’, like.
I’m going to be 36, though I’ve now been through so many of these birthday things that I have to keep asking Girl One if I’ve remembered it right. You start to lose track, after awhile.
So, anyway, that’s where I’m up to so far. Birthdays, cop-outs, and promises of further productivity. We’ll see how far it gets us this time, eh?

Rol
36? You’re still a bairn.

Well, true, but I’m working on getting older. It’s an ongoing process, and arguably one of the few things that I put a consistent effort into!
I think I forever forget that you and I aren’t the same age, you know!
