For the last 17-ish weeks, I’ve been taking part in the superbly fun Monkey On My Back comics podcast.
At the point when I start blogging in anger again, I’ll probably talk more about how that started, and go into a bit more detail about it, but for now I just wanted to post the 17th episode timings.
Quite early on, I started doing Twitter commentaries as I listened back to the podcasts… it started out pretty organically, with me just making the odd comment as something struck me as funny, or embarassing, or peculiar – the way most tweets are born – but it kind of got out of control. Then a few weeks back, when we got a bit bewildered by how long the episodes were getting, I started including approximate timings into my tweets for each section, to try and work out where the time was going.
I never got out of the habit, and having all that data sitting there, doing nothing, was starting to make me fidgetty. Then midway through a commentary, one of my friends tweeted that the timing data might make more sense compiled together and stuck somewhere where it was accessible for people listening.
And it was a great idea, so that’s what I’m doing. Because the thing is, there’s a lot of good, comic related stuff talked about on the MOMBcast, but there’s also an awful lot of rambling silliness, and if you’re a busy creator wanting to hear reviews of your work, you may not want to listen to upward of three idiots chuntering on for hours before you get to.
Anyway, this info is posted up at the MOMBcast site, along with the episodes, but I’m going to try and do a little more podcast related stuff here at Nixsight, and this is an opening salvo on that target.
